Nothing About Us, Without Us!
Sunshine Coast Connections
Tell Me More

Sunshine Coast Connections is a community-based, grass-roots and peer-led organization. We strive to fill gaps in access to services. Especially around issues involving homelessness, substance use and mental illness.

We respectfully and with gratitude acknowledge that Sunshine Coast Connections is located and operates within the ancestral, traditional, and unceded territory of the Coast Salish peoples, including the territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), Stó:lō and Səl̓ílwətaʔ/Selilwitulh (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations.

Harm Reduction

Harm reduction is a set of practical strategies and ideas aimed at reducing the negative consequences associated with drug use. Harm Reduction is also a movement for social justice built on a belief in, and respect for, the rights of people who use drugs.

At SC Connections people can access harm reduction materials such as clean equipment for substance use and safer sex tools.

Overdose Prevention

Providing overdose prevention, awareness, and education to drug users and their community, loved ones, and the care/service providers who serve them is a harm reduction intervention that saves lives.

In 2018 1,510 British Columbians lost their lives to overdose.  It was the sixth year in a row that the province set a record for overdose deaths.

At Connections, we strongly believe that no one should lose their life because they are a substance user.  We are here to try and protect those in our community at risk.

Advocacy and Support

S.C Connections is here to provide services to all populations on the Lower Sunshine Coast who might not otherwise have access to those services.

We have VCH outreach workers available to offer crisis support as well as personal advocacy for those who may struggle when engaging care/service providers or any agency that holds power over the lives of the Coasts's more marginalized populations.

Fundamentally, we are here to help.

Our Mission Statement

SC Connections is an alliance of people who reside on the lower Sunshine Coast of British Columbia who use or have used drugs that are currently illicit in BC, Canada. Our membership also includes any impassioned allies of the drug user community.

Our members are dedicated to improving life for all substance users, within our region and beyond.

Connections helps to facilitate the development of programs, as well as the implementation of low-barrier services and resources for our community members.

We strive to ensure regional representation and participation by substance users in BC’s and Canada’s overall response to substance use and users including the response to the ongoing overdose/prohibition crisis.
People who use drugs must be the leading voice regarding any and all matters impacting people who use drugs.

Our mandate is to work within a harm reduction, trauma-informed and intersectional model of care and practice.
